About MPA Engineering

MPA Engineering Ltd. is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Draftsperson to join our Sherwood Park, Alberta office. The successful candidate will support municipal and provincial transportation and civil infrastructure projects throughout Alberta, including bridge, water resource and related engineering assignments.

This role works closely with engineers and engineering technologists to prepare, revise and coordinate engineering drawings and project deliverables in a practical, team-oriented consulting workplace.

Position Details

- Job type: Full-time, permanent
- Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta with some opportunity to work from home.
- Pay: CA$75,000 to CA$100,000 per year, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications

What You Will Do

- Prepare and revise survey, design and construction drawings for bridge, water resource and related civil engineering projects.
- Develop drawings from engineer markups, field notes, survey information, sketches, standards and project-specific direction.
- Prepare plan, profile, section, detail and other project drawings as required for municipal and provincial government clients.
- Coordinate drawing revisions with engineers, engineering technologists and other project team members.
- Maintain organized drawing files, references and issue records in accordance with project and company standards.
- Support drafting quality control by checking drawings for consistency, completeness, formatting and coordination with related project documents.
- Complete other drafting and project-specific technical tasks consistent with the role.
- Support the development of the drafting team by mentoring junior staff, sharing technical knowledge and helping others improve their skills and confidence.

What We Are Looking For

- Five or more years of experience using computer-aided drafting software in a relevant technical environment.



Candidates with less experience may be considered where their skills and training are a strong fit.
- Experience preparing civil, bridge, water resource, roadway, transportation or municipal infrastructure drawings is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D is required. Experience with MicroStation is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches, survey information, markups, specifications and standard drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, organized drawing packages.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks and communicate clearly with engineers, technologists and other team members.
- Completion of a relevant technical program is preferred, such as a CAD diploma, engineering drafting and design program, civil engineering technology diploma or similar training.

Schedule

- Eight-hour shift
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines and will be handled in accordance with applicable Alberta employment standards and company policy.
