Our client, a leading Financial Services organization, is seeking an experienced IT Audit Consultant to support SOX compliance for a short term contract. The SOX IT Audit Manager is responsible for evaluating and testing the effectiveness of IT controls in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)

. This role ensures that the bank’s IT systems, processes, and controls support accurate financial reporting and meet regulatory requirements. The auditor works closely with IT, finance, risk, and external auditors to identify control gaps and drive remediation.

Contract - 3 months

Individual contributor

Location - Downtown Toronto, 3 days onsite

Key Responsibilities

SOX Compliance & Testing

- Plan and execute SOX IT General Controls (ITGC) testing (access controls, change management, operations).
- Perform walkthroughs and document IT processes impacting financial reporting.
- Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness.

Risk Assessment

- Identify IT risks related to financial systems and reporting.
- Conduct risk assessments to determine scope and testing priorities.

Control Evaluation

- Review controls over key systems (e.g., core banking, GL,



payment systems).
- Assess automated controls, interfaces, and data integrity controls.

Audit Execution

- Perform audits in line with standards such as ISACA and Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Prepare audit workpapers, findings, and reports.

Issue Management

- Identify deficiencies, document findings, and rate control gaps.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and track remediation plans.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of IT Audit experience within Banking or Financial Services.
- Strong hands-on experience with: ITGC testing & SOX IT compliance, Data governance frameworks, Cybersecurity control assessments
- Experience auditing ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and financial applications.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments (OSFI, SEC, FINRA, etc.).
- Skilled certifications preferred: CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CPA (asset)
