What Is The Role :
We are looking for a skilled Java Engineer II to join our AutoOps team, where you'll dive into performance and optimization in a production setting. This position allows for flexibility in location, so you can be based nearly anywhere in Canada.
As a member of the AutoOps Backend team, you will play key roles in developing features and designing systems. You will work with skilled professionals to influence the product's growth. You will also help define how our customers interact with their data.
What You Will Be Doing :
- Write clean, maintainable Java code while adhering to industry best practices. Participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards and troubleshoot issues within existing software solutions.
- Integrate third-party APIs and conduct unit and integration testing to ensure reliability. Develop and implement the necessary business and infrastructure logic for the ELK stack.
- Implement RESTful services to enable effective system communication. Ensure data consistency and integrity throughout the integration process. Troubleshoot and resolve integration-related issues.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define integration requirements and develop strategies for integrating the ELK stack with various data sources.
- Tackling difficult issues, including performance or concurrency issues, and proposing solutions.
- Leverage AI tools as an integral part of your daily workflow to improve productivity, accelerate problem solving, and deliver high quality results while applying sound engineering judgment.
- Owning operational investigations end-to-end, until performance or stability issues are successfully resolved.
- Supporting our support engineers with the harder problems.
What You Bring :
- 3 years experience in Java programming language.
- Knowledge in system design and architecture.
- Experience with designing and implementing RESTful services.
- Familiarity with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Experience with operational investigations, resolving stability issues and have the ability to troubleshoot performance and concurrency issues.
- Willingness to dive into new issues and ask for help when you need it.
- Basic knowledge in any relational database with a preference to Postgres.
- A proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code, while still owning the final outcomes.
- The ability to collaborate across functions and teams and seamlessly transition between different projects, codebases, or teams based on business priorities.
- Work autonomously, drive decisions and result in a distributed team by leveraging asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.
