Position Summary The Journeyman Carpenter is responsible for performing assigned carpentry and concrete formwork activities under the direction of the Foreman/Site supervisor. The position focuses on forming and preparing concrete walls, slabs, and related structures, as well as assisting with concrete placement and coordinating formwork with rebar installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, assemble, install, and dismantle concrete formwork for walls, slabs, and other structural concrete elements.
- Build and install circular and other specialized forms.
- Position, secure, plumb, level, and align forms according to drawings, measurements, and site requirements.
- Install and work with screw ties and various concrete form-tie systems.
- Construct and install slab-edge forms and other edge forms.
- Coordinate formwork installation with rebar placement to ensure proper fit and clearances.
- Assist with concrete placement and pouring activities.
- Monitor and adjust formwork during concrete placement as required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and other carpentry equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and follow construction drawings, plans, and specifications related to assigned work.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other carpentry-related duties as assigned by the Foreman.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid Journeyman Ticket
- 5+ years of carpentry experience, with significant experience in concrete formwork.
- Demonstrated experience forming concrete walls and slabs.
- Experience with concrete form-tie and screw-tie systems.
- Ability to accurately measure, plumb, level, align, and secure formwork.
- Ability to read and follow construction drawings and specifications.
- Required Safety Tickets: CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor (CSE&M;), H2S Alive
- Must successfully complete pre-employment alcohol and drug testing.
Working Conditions
- Work will be performed outdoors and in confined spaces.
- May involve working at heights.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, construction noise, dust, concrete, and other construction materials.
- Requires frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and manual handling of materials.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project requirements.

- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and incidents to the Foreman.
