Counsellor, HART Hub Full‑Time, Contract (Ending: Approximately 6 months)Location: London, Ontario (London Zone)This role provides low‑barrier, recovery‑oriented services to individuals experiencing homelessness with mental health and addiction needs.As a counsellor, you will build therapeutic relationships, support clients through evidence‑based addiction treatment planning, and facilitate access to a continuum of care within a single location.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in intake services, screening and crisis interventions.Administer and interpret evidence‑informed screening tools to determine program eligibility and level of care.Respond effectively to individual or group crisis and provide de‑escalation techniques.Adapt services to clients’ social and cultural needs, offering accessible communication options.Assess clients’ transportation needs and assist with travel supports.Utilize provincial assessment tools for client suitability and ongoing progress monitoring.Apply motivational interviewing and Stages of Change paradigms to increase client motivation.Deliver individual or group counselling using evidence‑based styles tailored to bio‑psycho‑social‑spiritual health.Develop formal treatment plans and update them as clients progress.Match clients with appropriate community supports and manage a clinical caseload.Facilitate community treatment groups and client‑centred case conferences.Coordinate navigation and advocacy for services, including pre‑release support, probation, and bail.Provide rapid connections to housing, addiction, mental health, and other services through referrals.Engage in outreach, education,
and community development in accordance with agency policy.Participate in clinical and administrative supervision and provide peer support.Compensation and BenefitsStarting rate: $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service); regulated level 1: $30.01 per hour.Eligible for wage differential for regulated positions; non‑regulated levels range: $34.41–$37.26 per hour.Work schedule: 70 hours over a two‑week period; rotating days andafternoons, including weekends.9% in lieu of benefits.Immediate eligibility for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).Qualifications – RequiredCollege diploma or university degree in a related field (e.G., BSW, postgraduate diploma in addictions or equivalent). Primary proof of credentials required.Registration with a professional college (e.G., OCSWSSW, CNO, CRPO, CPSO, COTO, CPO).Valid driver’s licence; minimum G2 class required.Personal vehicle for client transportation; liability insurance valued at $2,000,000 required.Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.Preferred QualificationsASIST Training.Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training.Clinical work experience in substance use treatment, including intake services.Experience working with individuals without a fixed address.Experience in crisis intervention/management and crisis resolution.Knowledge of mild, moderate and responsible mental illnesses.Knowledge of psycho‑social rehabilitation.Extensive knowledge of London and regional service networks.Knowledge of the legal system.Understanding of Ontario’s London Hub plan philosophies, practices, and frameworks.Bilingual proficiency in both official languages (preferred).Legal NotificationsFor legal purposes our full business name is: Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services.Artificial Intelligence is not currently employed in our recruitment processes.#J-18808-Ljbffr
