Job Overview

Foundation Law Corporation is looking for a junior associate with one to three years of post-call experience to join our team at our office in Richmond, British Columbia.

The position will primarily involve commercial litigation, including contractual disputes, debt recovery, shareholder and business disputes, real property matters, and other civil claims. As a general-practice firm, we also handle matters outside commercial litigation. The associate may occasionally assist with family law files and other areas based on workload, experience, and interest.

This role is well suited to a junior lawyer who wants to develop practical litigation skills and take an active role in moving files forward. The associate will work with senior counsel while gradually assuming greater responsibility for client communications, case strategy, document preparation, negotiations, and court appearances.

Responsibilities

- Manage commercial litigation files with guidance from senior counsel
- Assess claims and develop practical litigation strategies
- Conduct legal research and prepare opinions and submissions
- Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, demand letters, settlement proposals, and other legal documents
- Prepare for and attend examinations for discovery, mediations, chambers applications, hearings, and trials
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties
- Monitor limitation periods, procedural deadlines, and file requirements
- Assist with family law and other general-practice matters when required
- Maintain professional, accurate, and confidential client files





Qualifications

- Member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia
- One to three years of post-call experience
- Prior litigation experience, preferably in commercial or civil disputes
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical abilities
- Clear and qualified written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines
- Initiative, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Experience or an interest in family law is an asset
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset but not required
