Role Description The Junior Health and Safety Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Sudbury, ON. This position supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental programs aligned with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site inspections, assisting with risk assessments, documenting safety observations, and helping to investigate incidents and near-misses.
The role involves maintaining safety records, preparing reports, and supporting the delivery of safety orientations and training sessions for team members and contractors.
The Junior
Health and Safety Coordinator collaborates with supervisors and crews to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in Health & Safety and Workplace Safety.
- Candidates should possess skills related to Safety Training and supporting safety awareness initiatives.
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Understanding of mining or industrial work environments and applicable Canadian safety regulations is an asset.
- Strong observation, documentation, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work on site in field conditions, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools for data entry, reporting, and record keeping.
