Job Summary The Junior Sous Chef, Performance Nutrition supports the Chef and Sous Chef in preparing high-quality, performance-driven meals for our NHL athletes at Rogers Place. This role focuses on precision, consistency, and nutrition-focused cooking to support training, recovery, and overall athletic performance. Working in performance nutrition, especially in a culinary role, is a unique opportunity because it sits at the intersection of food, science, and human performance, allowing chefs and nutrition specialists to directly influence an athlete’s success.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and execution of nutritionally balanced meals for athletes.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines based on sports nutrition requirements.
- Support pre-training and post-training meal service, recovery snacks, and hydration offerings for athletes.
- Ensure food preparation meets dietary needs, allergies, and performance goals.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in all kitchen areas, ensuring to adhere to company HSQA standards.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and proper food storage.
- Communicate effectively with chefs and nutrition staff regarding menu execution.
- Adapt quickly to changes in training schedules or athlete needs.
- Support menu prep for competitions, camps, and special events.
- Learn and apply best practices in performance-focused cooking.
Qualifications
- Experience in a skilled kitchen (commis chef or line cook level preferred)
- Basic understanding of nutrition principles and healthy cooking techniques
- Professional Culinary training or enrollment in a culinary program preferred
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working in a high-profile, secure environment, ensuring the privacy of athletes, team personnel, and sensitive information at all times.
- Ability to adapt in the moment, in a fast-paced environment

- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to regularly work early mornings, evenings and weekends
- Valid food handler certification
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Experience working in sports, performance or health focused food environments is considered an asset
