Responsibility of a B.Ed. teacher at CVMS:

· Develop and implement a high-quality kindergarten and elementary program that supports and promotes the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children within a Montessori environment and responds to the current Alberta kindergarten statement and will assist with a program responding to the current Alberta Program of Studies at the lower elementary level. Knowledge of a Montessori environment programming will be an asset.

· Plan and maintain a high-quality environment that protects the health, safety, security and well-being of children

· Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or challenges with parents and other staff members

· Support children in the development of their self-help skills and independence

· Working with children with special needs, assessing, evaluating and documenting of observations

· Assisting with the writing of reports (Report Cards, Individual program plans,



Environmental Impact statements etc.).Excellent English written communication skills will be required

· Establish and maintain a collaborative and communicative relationship with co-workers and community service providers working with children

· Provide Phys.ed opportunities for elementary children and supplemental time for administration

· Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required

· Work in partnership to maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials; create and introduce teacher-made materials as required to support the developmental needs of children

Qualifications To be successful at Cochrane Valley Montessori School you need:

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Demonstrate skills working as a team and enjoy a team environment

· The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

· Bachelor of Education from a recognized university as well as a current Alberta interim or professional teaching certificate

· 1 – 3 years working in a Montessori environment would be an asset

· A current Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector screening

· Current Standard First Aid and child CPR

This position works closely in line with Alta Education grid depending on qualifications and years of experience.

Pay: $65,000.00-$81,000.00 per year
