Nox Wine Bar

Mississauga

Nox Boutique Wine Bar | Streetsville, Mississauga

$24-$26/hour | Approximately 30 - 35 hours/week + additional private event hours

Nox Boutique Wine Bar is reopening with a fresh approach, and we're looking for an experienced Kitchen Lead to take ownership of our food program.

Nox is an intimate boutique wine bar focused on great wine, beautiful shareable food, private gatherings and memorable experiences. Our menu is intentionally streamlined around high-quality, wine-friendly dishes that can be executed consistently and efficiently.

Think warm focaccia, crispy gnocchi, hot honey crispy tofu, burrata, baked brie, charcuterie, truffle popcorn and elevated snacks and share plates.

We're looking for someone who loves making great food and understands that outstanding food doesn't need to be complicated.

The Role

As Kitchen Lead, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day kitchen operation, including:

- Preparing and executing our established menu
- Planning and completing weekly prep
- Maintaining consistency, quality and presentation
- Ordering and receiving
- Inventory and par management
- Food-cost and waste control
- Portion control and recipe costing
- FIFO and product rotation
- Kitchen cleanliness and organization
- Food safety and health standards
- Planning prep according to reservations and booked events
- Food execution for private events and special experiences
- Helping continually improve kitchen efficiency and profitability

This is a hands-on role with significant autonomy. Our kitchen and menu are deliberately small, and we're looking for someone who sees that simplicity as a strength.

Who We're Looking For

You're confident taking ownership of a small,

efficient and exceptionally well-organized kitchen.

You care about consistency and presentation, but you also understand the business behind the food. You're conscious of purchasing, portions, waste and food cost, and you know how to prep intelligently based on expected volume rather than overproducing "just in case."

You're organized, dependable and calm during service. You enjoy autonomy and want the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a food program without the complexity of managing a large kitchen team.

Previous experience as a Kitchen Lead, Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Senior Line Cook or in a similar role is preferred.

Schedule

Nox is intentionally moving away from a traditional seven-day restaurant model.

Our regular wine-bar service will be concentrated Thursday through Saturday, with private events and special experiences scheduled throughout the week.

A typical Kitchen Lead schedule will be approximately:

Wednesday: Prep, receiving, inventory and kitchen organization

Thursday: Prep + evening service

Friday: Prep + evening service

Saturday: Prep + evening service and/or booked private event

Sunday: No regular service

Approximately 30-35 hours per week, with additional paid hours available for private events and special experiences.

The exact schedule may vary according to reservations and booked events, and some flexibility will be required.

Compensation

$24-$26/hour, based on experience.

This is an hourly position because we're intentionally building Nox around actual guest demand, reservations and booked events rather than unnecessary restaurant hours.

There is also room for this position to grow. As Nox consistently achieves agreed-upon revenue, food-cost, labour and profitability targets, we're open to reviewing compensation, hours and responsibilities.

What We're Building

We're intentionally creating a different kind of hospitality business.

Nox will operate with a focused menu, controlled inventory, thoughtful staffing, private events and concentrated wine-bar service rather than trying to operate like a large traditional restaurant.

We want our Kitchen Lead to help us build a food program that is:

Delicious. Consistent. Beautiful. Efficient. Profitable.

About Nox

To apply: Please send your résumé along with a short introduction telling us about your kitchen experience and why this role interests you.

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
