About Elm Landscaping

Elm Landscaping is a growing, four season landscape company providing maintenance and enhancement services to residential and commercial clients. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our field operations, develop our team, and ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our clients expect.

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Maintenance and Enhancement divisions. The successful candidate will lead by example, support and develop crew leaders, drive operational excellence, and create the systems and accountability needed for continued growth.

Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for managing daily field operations, scheduling, labor productivity, quality control, safety, fleet readiness, and crew development. This position removes the day-to-day operational responsibilities from the Owner, allowing greater focus on business development and strategic growth.

The ideal candidate is an experienced landscape professional who is organized, proactive, calm under pressure, and passionate about building high-performing teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Crew Leadership

- Lead the daily morning dispatch, ensuring all crews are briefed, equipped, and dispatched by 7:00 a.m.
- Coordinate daily schedules to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor field operations throughout the day and provide ongoing coaching to Crew Leaders.
- Ensure all scheduled work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
- Lead weekly crew meetings
- Support crews in the field when necessary while maintaining an operational leadership focus.

Snow Clearing Operations Leadership

- Lead all snow clearing operations, including pre-storm planning, crew scheduling, route assignments, and equipment readiness.
- Direct crews and Crew Leaders during snow events to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service.
- Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and additional resources as required.
- Monitor routes, labour, material usage,



and equipment performance throughout each event.
- Communicate effectively with crews, management, and clients during active storms.
- Conduct post-storm reviews and continuously improve winter operations, systems, and service delivery.
- Remain calm and decisive during high-volume or extended snow events.

Quality Control & Customer Service

- Perform regular site inspections to ensure quality workmanship.
- Maintain company quality standards with the goal of eliminating callbacks.
- Communicate professionally with clients.
- Resolve field issues quickly while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Identify enhancement opportunities on maintenance properties.

Labour & Financial Performance

- Review and approve daily employee timesheets.
- Accurately code billable and non-billable labor.
- Monitor labour productivity against quoted hours.
- Track material usage to ensure jobs remain within budget.
- Identify budget overruns early and communicate solutions before they impact profitability.

Materials, Fleet & Equipment

- Coordinate material orders and deliveries to support production schedules.
- Oversee fleet maintenance, preventative servicing, repairs, and equipment readiness.
- Ensure equipment issues are addressed before they result in downtime.

Safety & Compliance

- Promote a strong culture of workplace safety.
- Conduct weekly tailgate and safety meetings.
- Enforce PPE requirements and company safety policies.
- Investigate and document incidents while implementing corrective actions.

Leadership & Team Development

- Recruit, onboard, and support new field employees.
- Coach and mentor Crew Leaders to improve leadership skills and accountability.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and performance-driven workplace culture.




- Build systems and processes that improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience leading landscape maintenance crews in a Crew Leader, Supervisor, or Operations role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and residential landscape maintenance operations.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, coach, and hold employees accountable.
- Experience managing scheduling, labor productivity, job costing, and operational performance.
- Robust understanding of landscape equipment, fleet management, and preventative maintenance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using scheduling or field management software is an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record.

Pay: $36.00-$42.00 per hour
