George Thomas has partnered with a global packaging manufacturer who is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to develop and implement effective logistics, transportation and international trade strategies across North American operations.

The successful candidate will manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and courier providers, while providing expert guidance on logistics processes and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Act as the internal subject matter expert for logistics, customs and trade compliance.
- Develop and standardise logistics procedures, workflows and best practices across company facilities.
- Train and support internal teams on domestic transportation, international shipping and customs requirements.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, customs brokers, legal advisers and other external partners.
- Ensure import and export activities comply with applicable regulations, including USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, ITAR and sanctions requirements.
- Oversee HS/HTS classification and country-of-origin determinations.
- Monitor tariff, legislative and regulatory developments, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Recommend strategies to reduce duty and tariff exposure while maintaining compliance.




- Review freight expenditure and identify cost-saving and service improvement opportunities.
- Select and manage transportation providers against agreed cost, service and reliability targets.
- Establish and monitor logistics KPIs aligned with customer and business requirements.

To be considered for this role you will require:

- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in logistics, transportation and international trade, ideally within manufacturing.
- Solid knowledge of customs, cross-border trade and tariff classification.
- Experience managing carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and third-party logistics providers.
- Proven ability to develop logistics strategies, improve processes and manage freight costs.
- Strong analytical, communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in SAP or a similar ERP system.
- CITT, CSCMP or customs compliance certification would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
