Job Summary Objective: Oversees the work, people and results in the maintenance department, applying a wide range of skills and knowledge relating to plant maintenance.
Work to be performed: The work defined below reflects principal duties and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements, nor does it imply that all workers in this category perform all of these functions.
Responsibilities - Coaches and leads team to achieve maintenance goals.
- Develops and establishes specific plans to comply with company programs and objectives; directs the maintenance of plant utilities, custodial services and waste disposal.
- Develop plan to move existing maintenance system to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system, and oversee its implementation, ongoing operations, and continued improvement.
- Oversee the autonomous, preventive, and emergent maintenance for all critical equipment, machinery, tools, facilities, and grounds utilized by the company.
- Lead and/or take part in all focused improvements, quality maintenance, training, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), and administrative work as it pertains to the Maintenance Department scope.
- Recommends vendors for materials and supplies for maintenance and housekeeping / custodial duties.
- Monitors utility costs and maintenance materials purchases.
- Ensure departmental conformity to company policy, procedures and labour regulations.
- Support Safety Coordinator in safety evacuations and other emergencies.
- Ensures steps are taken to resolve issues as a result of accident or injury.
- Prepares and approves vacation schedules for employees.
- Ensures that department and facility is kept clean and orderly.
- Assists in the development and implementation of existing and new procedures.
- Develops manuals, guidelines, presentation materials and forms pertaining to the maintenance of the facility.
- Oversees retention and storage of departmental documents and records.
- People management and mentorship for direct reports.
- Performance of hands-on work as required by department and company.
Additional Requirements Responsibility Involved: Plan and organize work within the department; maintain relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, general public; may be responsible for other employees. Must be committed to participating in creating a safe work environment for all workers in the Company by respecting safety rules and regulations, cooperating with workplace investigations, participating in worker training and identifying substandard acts or conditions.
Effort: Mental effort is of moderate intensity at 2-4 hours per day or high intensity at less than 2 hours per day with respect to concentration, attentiveness, duration and intensity of effort, thinking, watching, listening, verifying, checking numbers, creating, designing.
Physical effort is of moderate intensity at 2-4 hours per day or high intensity at less than 2 hours per day with respect to duration and intensity of effort, fine or coarse movements, energy required (standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, pushing, pulling, sitting, packing, assembling, bending, twisting).
Job Working Conditions
Involves a busy working environment with frequent contacts throughout the day; psychological workplace is such that it may involve periods of occasional mental pressure; decisive action and decision making in conjunction with senior Company official. Environmental conditions are frequent exposure to disagreeable elements with respect to dirt, dust, grease, oil, temperature, distractions, multiple demands, poor ventilation, and/or noise. Hazards are of moderate to high risk of injury, harm or illness; extra safety measures may be needed with respect to the likely potential of injury, harm, illness, infectious disease involving chemicals, fumes, smoke, machinery, equipment or threat of violence.

Education / Experience - Equivalent 4 years high school.
- Approximately ten years diversified experience in various aspects of Maintenance Leadership activities demonstrating the capability to perform the above duties and responsibilities.
- Licensed Skilled Trade is an asset.
Salary $80,000 to $110,000/year, based on experience.
