Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and compassionate Maintenance, Recreation & Scheduling Coordinator to join our long-term care team. This position is responsible for coordinating building maintenance and repairs, supporting meaningful recreation programs for residents, and assisting with staff scheduling to ensure the home operates safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, contractors, and management.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Building Operations

- Coordinate and follow up on routine maintenance, repairs, and service requests throughout the home.
- Conduct regular inspections of common areas, resident areas, equipment, and building systems.
- Identify maintenance concerns and ensure issues are reported, documented, and addressed promptly.
- Coordinate with qualified contractors and service providers as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, and service schedules.
- Assist with preventative maintenance planning and ensure required inspections and servicing are completed.
- Support compliance with workplace health and safety, infection prevention and control, fire safety, and applicable long-term care requirements.
- Respond appropriately to urgent maintenance concerns and escalate issues when necessary.

Recreation & Resident Programs
- Plan, coordinate, and support recreational, social, cultural, and therapeutic activities for residents.
- Develop programs that encourage resident engagement, social interaction, independence, and quality of life.
- Consider residents' interests, abilities, preferences, cultural backgrounds, and individual needs when planning activities.
- Coordinate special events, celebrations, outings, entertainment, and community involvement.
- Maintain activity calendars, attendance records,



and required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with residents, families, volunteers, and members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Encourage meaningful resident participation while respecting individual choice and dignity.

Staff Scheduling & Administrative Coordination
- Prepare and maintain staff schedules in accordance with operational requirements and established staffing guidelines.
- Coordinate coverage for absences, vacations, sick calls, and other scheduling changes.
- Monitor staffing requirements and communicate scheduling concerns to management.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and ensure changes are communicated to appropriate staff.
- Assist with tracking attendance, shift changes, and staffing-related documentation.
- Work collaboratively with department leaders to support adequate staffing levels and continuity of resident care.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and resident information.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in long-term care, retirement living, healthcare, facilities management, recreation, scheduling, or a related environment is an asset.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and administrative skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a busy healthcare environment.
- Experience with staff scheduling or scheduling software is an asset.
- Experience coordinating maintenance, contractors, or building services is an asset.
- Experience developing and facilitating recreation programs for seniors is an asset.




- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or scheduling or maintenance management software.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, discretion, and respect for residents and their families.
- Ability to work in accordance with applicable provincial long-term care legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, infection prevention and control practices, and organizational policies.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain, may be required.
- Successful completion of any required background screening and employment requirements.
