About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support Maison Riverain, Equiton’s newly completed 294-suite purpose-built rental community in Ottawa’s Vanier neighbourhood. Overlooking the Rideau River, this modern property features contemporary suites, coworking and social spaces, fitness and yoga facilities, EV charging stations, and extensive resident amenity areas. You’ll play a key hands-on role in daily building operations, completing repairs and preventative maintenance, responding to resident needs, and ensuring suites, building systems, and shared spaces remain safe, functional, and welcoming.
This role offers long-term stability, autonomy in managing your work, and the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a growing residential community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete day-to-day repairs, including appliance repairs, painting, plastering, and minor plumbing and electrical work
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident maintenance requests
- Prepare vacant suites for new residents, including repairs, touch-ups, turnovers, and pre-delivery inspections
- Conduct property, suite, grounds, and mechanical-system inspections; document deficiencies and coordinate corrective action
- Perform preventative maintenance and monitor building systems, including boiler, pump, sprinkler, and mechanical rooms
- Maintain common areas, waste facilities, grounds, entrances, and walkways, including seasonal landscaping and snow removal
- Coordinate external contractors and maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment,
and replacement parts
- Ensure compliance with life-safety, fire, and building standards
- Participate in the evening and weekend on-call rotation, as required
What You Bring:
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and a practical hands-on / do-it-yourself mindset
- Proven experience in facility, commercial, or multi-family residential maintenance
- Ability to complete appliance repair, painting, plastering, and light plumbing and electrical work
- Ownership of and proficiency with your own maintenance tools required to perform the role effectively
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, secure, and well-kept environment
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills when working with residents and vendors
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize maintenance requests efficiently
- Comfort with basic technology (email, text, MS Office; Yardi experience is an asset)
- Valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to respond to after-hours or emergency maintenance calls, as required
- Credit and Criminal background check required.
