The Manager of Placemaking and Bayview Experience at Investottawabayviewyards is a pivotal position aimed at enhancing the community and cultural vibrancy of the Bayview area in Ottawa. Lead the development and execution of placemaking strategies that enhance the Bayview area, focusing on creating spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and engaging for all community members.
Collaborate with local government, community organizations, and residents to identify needs and opportunities for public space improvements and community events.
Manage and oversee the planning and implementation of community events, festivals, and activities that promote local culture and encourage community participation.
Conduct research and analysis to inform placemaking initiatives, including gathering community feedback and assessing the impact of existing projects.
Develop partnerships with local businesses, artists, and cultural organizations to support and promote Bayview as a vibrant destination.
Create and manage budgets for placemaking projects, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, including the community, board members, and potential investors, to communicate project progress and outcomes.
Utilize social media and other communication channels to promote events, initiatives, and community engagement efforts, fostering a sense of belonging among residents.
Monitor and evaluate the success of placemaking initiatives,
using metrics to assess community satisfaction and engagement levels.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to engage community members in the planning process, ensuring their voices are heard and incorporated into project designs.
Advocate for sustainable practices in placemaking, promoting environmentally friendly solutions that enhance the community's quality of life.
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in community engagement, urban design, or placemaking, with a proven track record of successful project management.
Strong understanding of urban planning principles, community development strategies, and placemaking methodologies.
Demonstrated experience in event planning and management, with a focus on community-oriented activities.
Proficiency in project management tools and software, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to analyze data and feedback to inform decision-making and project adjustments.
Familiarity with the Ottawa community and its cultural landscape is a plus.
Experience working with local governments or non-profit organizations in a community development capacity.
Background in marketing or communications, particularly in promoting community events and initiatives.
Familiarity with grant writing and fundraising strategies to support placemaking projects.
Previous experience in a leadership role, mentoring team members or managing volunteers.
Knowledge of design software or tools used in urban planning and community engagement.
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
Familiarity with social media platforms and their use in community engagement.
This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, and may require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate community events and meetings.
