Position Summary The Manager, Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies that elevate CCAWR’s public visibility, strengthen community engagement and support fundraising and program initiatives. The incumbent will blend creativity with strategy and utilize contemporary digital marketing approaches to amplify the CCAWR’s impact.
Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement marketing and communications plans aligned with CCAWR’s strategic objectives.
- Manage promotional campaigns for events, programs, and community initiatives.
- Support brand consistency across all communication materials and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to ensure cohesive messaging.
Content Creation and Digital Marketing
- Create compelling written and visual content for newsletters, social media, website updates, and event promotions.
- Manage CCAWR’s social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and track engagement metrics.
- Design promotional materials such as flyers, event graphics, and digital ads using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Public Relations and Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant community stakeholders.
- Assist the Executive Director with drafting press releases and public announcements.
- Support storytelling initiatives that highlight community success stories and organizational milestones.
Event Marketing and Support
- Collaborate with program and event teams to plan and promote major events such as the Awards of Excellence, fundraisers,
and community celebrations.
- Coordinate event branding, signage and in office communications materials.
- Capture photos and videos during events for post-event storytelling and archival purposes.
Analytics and Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance and social media analytics.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness and reach.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital media (nonprofit or community-based experience preferred).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong written and visual storytelling abilities.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, and social media management tools.
- Excellent project management and time management skills.
- Knowledge of branding, digital strategy, and community engagement best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Understanding of and commitment to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
Assets:
- Experience working with African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities.
- Familiarity with the Waterloo Region’s community landscape.
- Photography, videography, or basic website management (WordPress or Wix) skills.
Compensation: The hourly starting salary for this role will be between $28 and $35 p.h and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Why Join CCAWR?
