Our Team is growing! We are looking for a Manager – Mechanical Engineering!
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team the Manager of Mechanical Engineering is primarily responsible for managing, leading and supporting the mechanical design team engineers, and work closely with the Lead Program Manager, to achieve departmental and organizational goals. This role ensures the planning, implementation, and alignment of projects with strategic objectives while promoting safety, efficiency, profitability, and innovation. It also includes driving cross-department collaboration, improving processes, and cultivating strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor and support the Engineering Department Team Members
- Manage and coordinate the team’s daily responsibilities to ensure that projects are completed according to the schedule
- Prepare and oversee departmental and project budgets, reports, presentations, team member reviews, and KPI’s
- Liaison with other managers to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic plan
- Work collaboratively with sales, CNC, toolroom, fabrication, quality,
shipping and other departments to complete projects and resolve technical challenges
- Ensure team members have the required knowledge, skills and safety training to complete the projects through on-going feedback and performance reports
- Support recruitment and onboarding of additional team members
- Cultivate business relationships with external stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflow, and stay current on technology & industry trends
- Assist in developing standardized procedures and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience as Manager or Supervisor in a manufacturing environment
- Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Millwright, or related trade is beneficial
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, SolidWorks, Cimatron and project management
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T;, BOMs, and 3D CAD models
- Solid organizational and communication skills, especially in a team environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle frequent interruptions on a regular basis
- Strong ability for problem solving and decision-making
- Able to proactively identify issues, analyze data and implement effective solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
and MS Project
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer support and trade shows to Mexico, USA, Europe, and other countries as needed
