About the Role The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade (APBOT) is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven professional to join our team as Manager, Member Success.
This leadership role is responsible for ensuring our members receive exceptional value from their investment in APBOT while driving membership growth, engagement, retention, sponsorship development, and community partnerships. The successful candidate will serve as a key ambassador for the organization, helping businesses connect, grow, and succeed within the Ajax and Pickering business community.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Member Success will play a vital role in advancing APBOT’s strategic priorities by building strong relationships with members, identifying opportunities for engagement, and leading initiatives that strengthen our business network.

Key Responsibilities
Member Engagement & Retention
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement, retention, and overall satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with existing members through regular outreach, meetings, and business visits.
- Identify opportunities to connect members with programs, services, partnerships, and networking opportunities.
- Monitor member participation and proactively engage members who may be at risk of non-renewal.
- Manage member onboarding and ensure new members are successfully integrated into the APBOT community.
- Collect and analyze member feedback to continuously improve the member experience.
Membership Growth & Business Development
- Support membership recruitment efforts by identifying and cultivating prospective members.
- Conduct membership presentations and attend community events to promote APBOT membership.
- Develop strategies to grow membership across diverse business sectors
- Collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and community partners to expand APBOT’s reach and impact.
- Track membership trends, renewal rates, and key performance indicators.
Sponsorship & Partnership Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, strategic partners, and community stakeholders.
- Identify sponsorship opportunities that align with organizational goals and member interests.
- Assist with sponsorship proposals, stewardship activities, and partner recognition.
- Support the development of collaborative initiatives that create value for members and the broader business community.
Events & Member Programs
- Work closely with the Events and Communications Coordinator to support APBOT’s annual calendar of events and programs.
- Ensure member-focused programming aligns with organizational objectives and member needs.
- Attend and support networking events, educational sessions, signature events, and community initiatives.
- Foster meaningful connections among members, sponsors, and stakeholders.
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
- Contribute to organizational planning and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare membership reports, engagement metrics, and performance updates.
- Maintain accurate records within APBOT’s CRM and membership database.
- Support advocacy initiatives by gathering member feedback and identifying emerging business issues.
- Represent APBOT professionally within the business community and at external events.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Economic Development, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in membership services, business development, account management, sales,
relationship management, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining professional relationships.
- Robust business acumen and understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local businesses.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience using CRM systems and membership databases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business technology platforms.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team environment.
- Availability for occasional early morning, evening, and weekend events.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle for business travel.
