Brainhunter is currently seeking “ Electrical Design Engineer” to work for our valued Client. It’s a one - year contract located in Pickering, Ontario.

Vacancy Status : Open/Existing

Hourly Compensation : $50-$60 / hour per hour. Final compensation will be negotiated between the contractor and recruiter based on experience and engagement terms.

Job Description

An Electrical Design Engineer (DE) Qualified role at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) involves providing electrical power distribution design, engineering change analysis, and field support for operating nuclear or industrial plants. It typically requires a degree in electrical engineering, a P.Eng. in Ontario, and active or previous OPG DE qualification.

Responsibilities

- Collaboration: Provide technical oversight to junior engineers and liaise with construction, procurement, and utility stakeholders.
- Design & Analysis: Provide electrical power distribution design and analysis for plant equipment, including transformers, switchgears, motors, and generators.
- Engineering Changes: Develop and review design modifications, equipment selections,



and life cycle plans following OPG's Engineering Change Control procedures.
- Field Support: Conduct field walkdowns and provide field engineering support for multi-disciplinary plant design modifications.
- Safety & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with nuclear quality requirements and applicable codes (CSA, ASME, etc.).

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensure: Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario (or eligibility to obtain).
- OPG Clearance: Active or previously held OPG Design Engineer (DE) qualification.
- Experience: Typically 5 to 8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within the nuclear or heavy industrial sector.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active nuclear security clearance
