Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with a strong engineering background to lead projects from initial award through to final commissioning and closeout. In this role, you will plan, execute, and deliver complex mechanical, MEP, and chemical process construction projects. You will oversee all aspects of project lifecycles, managing budgets, schedules, sub-contractors, client communications, site safety, and financial performance across concurrent job sites.

Key Responsibilities

- Project Leadership: Lead the end-to-end management of commercial, industrial, chemical, and general mechanical construction projects.
- Technical Review: Thoroughly review drawings, specifications, contracts, tender packages, and P&IDs; prior to execution.
- Planning & Execution: Establish comprehensive project schedules, budgets, procurement strategies, and manpower allocations.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, engineering consultants, trade sub-contractors, and field crews.
- Project Administration: Administer RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals, change directives, purchase orders, and closeout records.
- Financial Tracking: Track labor efficiency, material costs, subcontractor performance, and overall job profitability against initial baselines.
- Change Management:



Proactively identify, cost, negotiate, and execute change orders.
- Site Oversight: Conduct routine site inspections to verify safety compliance, quality assurance, and milestone adherence.
- Financial Controls: Collaborate with project accounting on progress billings, holdbacks, invoice approvals, and cash-flow forecasting.
- Commissioning & Turnover: Drive project turnover, system testing, balancing, commissioning, deficiency clearance, and warranty management.

Mandatory Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Construction Experience: Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience.
- Chemical Construction Experience: Minimum 3 years managing chemical process piping, chemical plant construction, or related hazardous process facilities.
- Technical Depth: Proven background in mechanical construction and broad MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) integration.
- Licensing & Travel: Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with willingness to travel to job sites across the region.

Knowledge & Skills

- Proficient in reading and evaluating mechanical engineering blueprints, MEP coordination drawings, and industrial process diagrams.
- Solid understanding of Canadian building codes, safety regulations, and standard construction contracts (e.g., CCDC).
- Strong capability in financial tracking, cost control, cost-to-complete forecasting, and delay mitigation.
- High proficiency with standard office productivity suites (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Hands-on experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, MS Project) is preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, conflict-resolution, and executive-level communication skills.
