This part-time Medical Office Assistant role supports a medical office by managing patient flow and assisting the physician.
2 days per week (Thursday and Friday), availability for occasional extra days is an asset
- 8am – 4pm; paid lunch break
- $20/hour, no advantages
- Reports to the office manager with input from the physician
- Paid training start date (flexible) after September 8; as much training as needed to feel comfortable will be arranged
- Independent work start date September 24
Job duties:
- Bring patients from the waiting room into the examination room
- Prepare the rooms between patients
- Confirm brief patient history, check medications and allergies, have patient undress if needed
- Act as a chaperone as needed
- Telephone patients as required by physician
- Track/monitor results of biopsies, referrals
- Receive telephone calls from patients and pharmacies, and take action as needed
- Drawing up medications, sterilizing instruments, ordering supplies
Education and Skills required: High school education required; formal MOA training or experience is not required.
The successful candidate will have a warm and friendly manner with patients and have good organizational skills. They will communicate effectively in person with co-workers,
physicians, and patients, and by telephone with patients and pharmacists. The ability to work cooperatively in a team is essential as the role requires clear communication with the MOA who works Monday to Wednesday.
Flexibility in your schedule - the ability to occasionally work extra days if other team members are away - is highly desirable. The ability to work occasional overtime if needed is highly desirable.
Company description:
This is a well-established medical dermatology practice, with two physicians currently, and a third joining in September. The practice is located near the C-Train, and parking is also available. You will work with the support of a highly experienced LPN and share your workspace with another MOA who works Monday-Wednesday. The physician you will support is also starting in September, so there will be a period of adjustment as she determines how she would like her workflow to be structured.
