We run independent player evaluations for minor hockey associations across Calgary and the surrounding area. We're hiring evaluators for the upcoming tryout season.

The value we provide associations is objectivity. Our evaluators have no connection to the players, families, or coaching staff at the association they're working. You score what's in front of you, and that's what makes the process credible.

What the job looks like

You'll be in the stands with a tablet, evaluating live. Sessions move fast — a large number of players in a short window, across age groups from U9 to U18. You score against a defined rubric on our evaluation platform, and consistency matters more than anything else. The first group on the ice needs to be measured the same way as the last.

This suits people who already have a career and want good side income during evaluation season. Sessions are concentrated into a few weeks, mostly evenings and weekends, at rinks across Calgary and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

- Evaluate skating, puck skills, hockey sense,



and compete level from the stands using a provided tablet
- Score players against our standardized rubric and submit entries before the session closes
- Track players by jersey number accurately across drills and scrimmages
- Stay focused through full sessions with minimal breaks

Qualifications

- High-level playing experience, coaching experience, or both. This is a requirement, not a preference .
- Comfortable working on a tablet
- Consistency and focus across a full session
- Reliable transportation to rinks in and around Calgary
- Punctual and reliable — arena ice times don't move

Tablet and rubric training are provided before your first session. Prior evaluation experience is an asset but not required.

Details

Seasonal, part-time. Sessions are typically evenings and weekends during tryout season, with some early mornings. Paid per session. Dress warm — you're sitting still in a cold rink for a few hours.

Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
