Job Summary: The Northern Mobile Ultrasound Program delivers ultrasound services to First Nation communities within the Sioux Lookout area.

The Mobile Sonographer will be responsible for addressing community ultrasound needs to improve access to care and coordination between service providers. The Mobile Sonographers are a vital member of the Primary Care Team. They coordinate, perform and evaluate ultrasounds as ordered and within their college guidelines

Qualificat**

ions• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employme nt).

- Graduate of an accredited training program in Sonogra phy.
- Active membership with Sonography Canada and CMRITO registration requi red.
- Minimum 2 years general ultrasound experience prefer red.
- Ability to do general ultrasound and small parts studies is requi red.
- OBS High Risk and breast experience an as set.
- Experience working with First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout catchment area would be an as set.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the health issues of a diverse community and experience working with First Nations communities is an as set.
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout catchment area would be an as set.
- Strong written and oral communication ski lls.
- Experience with PAC’s/EMR syst ems.
- Strong computer ski lls.
- Must be willing to travel by various mo des.
- Must have a valid Driver’s Lic ense• Must be willing to relocate and live in Sioux Lookout (or within a daily commuting dista nce)• The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular ba

- Communicate with the radiologist regul arly.
- Assist in preparing monthly and year end repor ting.
- Must be familiar with equipment and competent in performing tests, preventative maintenance and documentation of res ults.
- Prepare the exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct examinat ions.
- Recognize and record the appropriate anatomy and pathology using sonographic equip ment.
- Care properly for sonography equipment and report equipment fai lure.
- Alert appropriate medical staff of any abnormalities that need immediate atten tion.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects, and display flexibility in a fast-paced work environ ment.
- Display good work ethic and friendly and cheerful disposi tion.
- Maintain the strictest levels of confidentia lity.
- Must adhere to organizational policies and procedures concerning cleaning, hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment in support of Infection Control measures and attend training when neces sary.
- Provide support to coordinate services based on community need and availability of accommodations and clinical s pace.
- Act as a resource to assist in providing culturally sensitive health care.
- Dealing with PACS and Meditech is sues.
- Performs administrative duties in support of the organization’s goals and object ives.
- Provide assistance and other duties as assi gned.
