JOB TITLE: CHILD & YOUTH WORKER | #2227

SERVICE AREA: Early Learning & Youth Services

LOCATION: Leisure Challenge (Renfrew-Collingwood)

START DATE: August 24, 2026

TERM/STATUS: Permanent Part Time

SCHEDULE/HRS: Monday 13:00 - 18:00; Tuesday to Friday 14:00 - 18:00 // 21 hours per week - Part time during school days, Temporary Full time hours during school breaks (Winter, Summer and Spring) and professional development days. HOURLY WAGE: $26.43 - $29.26 as per collective agreement (2024 rates,



implementation of new collective agreement is in process and new wage rates $28.04 to $31.04 will be implemented once funding is received)

THE ROLE: The Child & Youth Worker ensures the provision of an enriched leisure program by providing opportunities for learning and skill development for youth with disabilities. The Child & Youth Worker designs educational and recreational activities that promote individual growth.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

- Certificate or minimum of 3 years in related studies toward a degree such as Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Child Care, Social Sciences, or Education.
- Minimum 1 year direct experience with youth in a recreational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- Formal training in the area of counselling and behaviour management.
- Requires physical strength, valuable balance, mobility and endurance for recreational activities.

Standard requirements of the Child & Youth Worker include:

- Criminal Record Clearance
- Medical Clearance
- Satisfactory Driver's Abstract
- Class 5 Driver's License
- Able to obtain Class 4 unrestricted Driver's License
- Valid First Aid/CPR
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification - training will be provided
- Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
- Basic computer literacy
- Eligible to work in Canada
