Job Requirements
Location: Pickering, ON (remote work permitted, but candidates must reside in the Greater Toronto Area for occasional site visits)
Travel Requirements: Occasional visits to client sites as needed
Clearance: Nuclear
Certification: Active PEng certificate (or close to obtaining it)
Project Context The Electrical Engineer will join a dedicated team supporting high-voltage (HV) projects within the nuclear industry. This role focuses on the design, review, and troubleshooting of HV systems, including transformers, relays, protection systems, and isolated phase bus (IPB) replacements. The work is part of ongoing refurbishment programs for major nuclear clients, requiring candidates who can contribute immediately to a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and review HV system components, including transformers, relays, protection systems, and IPBs.
Supervise the execution of work to develop as-built documentation.
Troubleshoot potential system failures in office at nuclear plants.
Perform design calculations for conductor/cable sizing, overhead poles, and underground cable conduit arrangements.
Conduct modeling, load flow, and protection coordination studies for HV systems.
Collaborate with a remote team while maintaining strong organizational and communication practices.
Candidate Requirements
Nuclear industry background.
Strong electrical engineering expertise.
5+ years of relevant experience.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
High-voltage (HV) experience.
Proficiency with ETAP software.
Soft Skills
Strong organizational skills to thrive in a remote team environment.

In accordance with our compensation practices, ALTEN is providing the salary range associated with this opportunity. Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is $95,000 – $130,000 per year or a higher hourly rate as subcontractor.
