Duties
- Administer vaccinations accurately and safely to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and seniors, following established protocols and medical guidelines.
- Assess patient health status prior to vaccination, including reviewing medical histories and identifying contraindications or allergies.
- Educate patients about vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care instructions to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of vaccination records using electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Monitor patients post-vaccination for adverse reactions, providing immediate care if necessary and reporting incidents according to protocol.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate case management efforts for patients requiring additional support or follow-up care.
- Support laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy when needed for blood tests related to immunization programs or patient assessment.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant state or region.
- Proven experience in hospital or acute care settings, with familiarity in patient care across diverse populations.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and infection control practices.
- Experience working with electronic health records systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Background in pediatrics, senior care, dementia care, or home health environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about vaccination procedures and health considerations.
- Additional skills such as laboratory experience (phlebotomy), pain management experience, assisted living experience, or nursing home experience will enhance your candidacy.
