Pay Range

Estimated annual earning potential: $50,000–$75,000

Actual earnings may vary based on availability and service volumes A Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy assistant at VHA Home HealthCare will provide client-centered clinical care under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist. You will be conducting home visits for the clients of VHA as per the Physiotherapist's/Occupational therapist's recommendations. Areas of accountability:

VHA's Physiotherapy Assistants/Occupational Therapy Assistants have the following key areas of accountability, but not limited to:

Assist/supervise the client with his/her individual prescribed exercise programs or ADL training

Assist/supervise client with walking, transfers, stairs,



safe mobility, and positioning using proper body mechanics

Provide client/family education and support to address physical, functional, and self-care needs as assigned

Assist with gross motor, fine motor, and balance activities

Monitor and report changes in health status to the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist

Participate in program planning, quality improvement, and evaluation

Document in the client record and collect required data as requested Required Qualifications:

Diploma as an OTA/PTA from an accredited college program.

You have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in the community working with geriatric clients with variable diagnoses and multiple co-morbidities.

You are a skilled communicator and have a successful track record of coaching/mentoring clients to participate in a professional manner.

Current First Aid Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate required.

Evidence of continuous education.

Sound critical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.

The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated understanding and practice of rehabilitation principles and techniques.
