Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated One-on-One Support Staff member to provide individualized support to a child who requires additional assistance within an early learning environment. This role focuses on helping the child feel protected, included, and successful while supporting their social, emotional, developmental, and educational needs.

The ideal candidate will be nurturing, attentive, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their individual potential. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with educators, families, and other support professionals to create a positive and inclusive experience for the child.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Provide individualized, one-on-one support to a child throughout their day in the early learning environment.
- Support the child’s participation in classroom activities, routines, play, and social interactions.
- Assist with transitions between activities and help the child navigate changes in routine.
- Provide encouragement and guidance to support social, emotional, communication, and developmental skills.
- Adapt activities and experiences to meet the child’s individual abilities, interests, and needs.
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where the child feels supported and valued.
- Observe and communicate relevant information regarding the child’s progress, needs, and successes with the classroom team.
- Work collaboratively with educators and families to provide consistent and responsive support.
- Encourage independence and help the child develop confidence and self-help skills.
- Follow individualized strategies, recommendations, and support plans as provided by the appropriate professionals and care team.




- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when working with children and families.
- Assist with personal care or additional support needs when required and appropriate to the role.

Qualifications
- Level 1 Early Childhood Educator or higher required.
- Previous experience working with children in an early learning, childcare, educational, or support setting preferred.
- Experience providing individualized or one-on-one support is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and dependable approach to working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and responsive to individual needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's inclusion, development, and well-being.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, criminal record check, and other required childcare certifications required.
