Job Title: Packaging and Labels Operator
Salary Range: CAD$45,510. – CAD$56,888.
Working Type: On-Site
PURPOSE OF ROLE The Packaging & Labels Coordinator is responsible for the management, storage, and staging of packaging materials and labels required for production and warehouse operations. The role ensures materials are available, organised, and supplied in line with operational demand. The position maintains control of label inventory and supports accurate label application and usage across processes, working closely with operational teams to ensure continuity of supply and minimise disruption.
The role also provides support to adjacent processes, including AGV operations, as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Packaging & Materials Management
Manage the storage, organisation, and staging of packaging materials required for production and warehouse operations
Ensure packaging materials are available and supplied in line with production schedules and operational demand
Maintain organised storage locations to support efficiency and material traceability
Monitor packaging material usage and report shortages or risks to continuity
Perform regular inventory counts and stock reconciliations.
Maintain FIFO/FEFO controls
Ensure packaging materials are stored in accordance with food safety requirements.
Label Control & Accuracy
Maintain accurate control of label inventory across operations
Verify labels against production schedules, customer specifications, and product requirements prior to release.
Manage controlled, obsolete, and damaged labels according to site procedures.
Support accurate label application to prevent errors, rework, or compliance risks
Investigate label discrepancies and support corrective actions
Ensure full traceability of label issuance and consumption.
Support product recall and traceability processes when required.
Operational Support & Coordination
Process inventory and material transactions in warehouse management systems.
Work closely with production, warehouse, and inventory teams to support continuous operations
Provide operational support to adjacent processes, including AGV operations, where required
Escalate equipment, automation, or system issues affecting material flow.
Coordinate closely with Quality and Production teams during product changeovers.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Follow GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and ensure packaging and label handling complies with food safety, quality, and operational standards
Verify packaging materials meet quality standards before use.
Report packaging defects, damaged materials, or non-conformances.
Follow site procedures related to material handling, traceability, and documentation
Support audit readiness related to packaging and label controls
Process Improvement & Reporting
Participate in root cause investigations related to packaging, labeling, or inventory discrepancies.
Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and material flow efficiency.
Monitor, maintain accurate records and report KPIs relating to inventory, labeling, and packaging performance.
Report issues, shortages, or risks impacting operations.
KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
Essential
2+ years of experience in warehouse, manufacturing,
or food production environments
Knowledge of packaging materials and label handling processes
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to coordinate material flow to support operational demand
Robust communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in fast‑paced, process‑driven environments
Perform other duties as assigned by the Inventory Leader / Supervisor / Manager.
Experience using WMS, ERP, or inventory management systems.
Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
Understanding of FIFO/FEFO inventory practices.
Ability to perform inventory reconciliation and cycle counting activities.
Desirable
Experience supporting automated or AGV‑enabled operations
Familiarity with inventory or warehouse systems
Experience in food production or regulated environments
Working Conditions
Production teams Temperature
Temperature ‑controlled work setting maintained between 0–2°C
Moderate noise levels due to AGVs, robotic systems, and material‑handling equipment (MHE)
Ability and willingness to wear mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and cold‑environment PPE
