We are currently hiring a Pan Operator to join the team at our Mechanical Evaporation Plant in Unity, SK.
Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture.

How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Operate and monitor evaporator systems and associated equipment, including dryers, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
- Maintain optimal evaporator performance by monitoring, interpreting, and adjusting operating parameters and process controls.
- Conduct salt quality testing, including purity and spin tests, analyze results, and make process adjustments as required.
- Maintain accurate operating records, logs, and reports related to evaporator system performance.
- Perform routine inspections, basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to support safe and efficient operations.
- Interpret and follow operating procedures, manufacturer specifications, and technical instructions.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including secure work practices and equipment procedures.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
- Assist with maintenance activities and plant shutdown work as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What should you bring to the role?
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Fourth Class Interprovincial Power Engineer Certificate preferred.
- Experience with evaporator and vacuum systems in a process or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of process equipment, control systems, and filter dryers.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mechanical aptitude or experience is considered an asset.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing operational requirements.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation.
