Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The Instructor will teach one section of a coordinated first-year design studio.

Responsibilities include studio teaching, critiques, assessment, participation in coordination meetings, and delivery of one class-wide lecture. Project briefs and course structure are provided by the course coordinator.

This course introduces principles of architecture through architectural elements and pavilions. In case studies and design, students develop skills in problem definition, building organization, structural geometry, material selection, and visualization. Students also learn about social and symbolic functions of architecture and how designs respond to site.

Qualifications / Requirements

- Professional degree in architecture or equivalent; studio teaching or professional experience preferred.

Skilled Competencies

- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, foster student learning, work collaboratively with diverse faculty and students, and contribute to an inclusive academic environment.

Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
