Job Purpose & Responsibilities

This is a permanent, part-time position with the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Municipal Enforcement Manager, the Animal Care Centre Attendant will be responsible for:

- Providing a basic level of care to dogs and cats and maintaining cleanliness to the facility including but not limited to:
- Replenishing food, water, and litter pans on a scheduled basis.
- Allowing animals to go outside routinely.
- Washing and sterilizing food/water dishes and litter pans.
- Sanitizing kennels and cages, laundering blankets, and restocking pet supplies.
- Disposing of animal waste and other debris.
- Assisting in attempts to reunite animals with their owners by taking pictures of the animal and posting them to social media, scanning animals for microchips, recording identification, and calling potential owners.
- Providing excellent customer service when covering the front desk, in the absense of the Administrative Assistant.





Qualifications & Competencies

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Comfortable and experienced handling and caring for animals.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to multitask.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Robust customer service skills and a keen interest in assisting others.
- Ability to exhibit discretion working around confidential and sensitive situations.

More Details

The wage for this position is $21.33 per hour. The hours of work are 20 hours per week, with a schedule of Saturday and Sunday, and an additional daytime shift throughout the week. This position is within the scope of AUPE Local 118/016, and as such you will be required to adhere to articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
