Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Ontario certified English Public Speaking Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will inspire and guide students in developing their English communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
You will help students build confidence, improve their vocabulary and pronunciation, express their ideas clearly, and communicate effectively in various settings. This position offers a flexible schedule and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while balancing other commitments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and interactive public speaking lessons tailored to students of different ages and skill levels.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, activities, presentations, and speaking exercises aligned with curriculum goals.
- Teach English communication skills, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading comprehension, and conversation.
- Help students develop public speaking skills, including speech organization, presentation delivery, body language, voice projection, and audience engagement.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages confidence, participation, creativity, and collaboration.
- Provide personalized feedback to help students improve their communication and presentation skills.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
- Organize activities such as debates, storytelling, role-playing, presentations, group discussions, and impromptu speaking exercises.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to continuously improve lesson content and teaching methods.
Qualifications
- College diploma or university degree, preferably in English, Education, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in teaching English language and public speaking concepts to children and youth.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt lessons to different learning styles.
- Passion for education and helping students develop confidence in communication.
- Ability to motivate students and create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Experience
- Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching English, communication, drama, debate, or public speaking.
- Experience working with children or youth in a classroom, tutoring center, extracurricular program, or similar educational setting.
- Experience preparing and delivering presentations, speeches, workshops, or interactive learning activities.
- Experience working with students from diverse age groups and learning backgrounds is an asset.
Schedule
- Tuesday: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Thursday: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Saturday: 10:30 AM – 12:40 PM
