Role Description This is a full time, on-site P&C; CAD Drafter role based in Toronto, ON. The P&C; CAD Drafter will produce and revise protection and control drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for substation and transmission projects.
Responsibilities include translating engineering design concepts into accurate CAD models, maintaining drawing standards and templates, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client specifications. The role involves coordinating with engineers and project managers, incorporating markups and redlines,
and preparing drawing packages for review and construction. The P&C; CAD Drafter will also support documentation control, contribute to continuous improvement of drafting practices, and assist with quality checks on design deliverables.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for electrical and protection and control applications.
- Ability to create and interpret Technical Drawing and Engineering Drawings for power systems projects.
- Experience producing and modifying Drawing and Architectural Drawings or layout plans for utility or industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of protection and control principles, substation design practices, and relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) is an asset.
- Diploma or degree in electrical engineering technology, drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Attention to detail, robust organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams on-site.
- Experience with utility or transmission and distribution projects, and familiarity with document control processes, is beneficial.
