The ASPIRE Peer Support Worker is a new, free, confidential, faith-informed peer support phone and text line for Muslim youth, operated by MFBCS. We provide trained, non-judgmental peer support — not therapy — with crisis de-escalation and warm referrals for youth who reach out, of any faith background.

We're hiring a Peer Support Worker to answer the highest-need contacts, support and coach our volunteer responders, and help us safely grow this new program.

What you'll do

- Answer calls, texts, and chats calmly, respectfully, and without judgment.
- Assess risk (suicide, self-harm, violence, abuse, safeguarding) using our structured protocol, and escalate when needed.
- Handle higher-risk and complex contacts, and act as the sole responder when no volunteer is on shift.
- Coach and support volunteer peer supporters in real time; approve emergency interventions.
- Build safety plans collaboratively with service users and provide warm referrals to community resources.
- Document contacts accurately, complete incident reports, and run shift handovers.
- Liaise with hospitals, police,



and mobile crisis teams as needed.

What you bring

- Experience in crisis support.
- Robust listening skills and sound judgment under pressure.
- Comfort supporting Muslim youth across a range of backgrounds and religious practice.
- Willingness to complete two references and a vulnerable-sector-grade criminal record check (or equivalent).
- Willingness to complete our training program including and suicide-intervention before working independently.

Nice to have

- Lived experience within Muslim, newcomer, or mental-health-recovery communities.
- Additional languages (e.g., Arabic, Urdu, Punjabi, Farsi, Somali).
