Pier Health Pharmacy is seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our pharmacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality patient care while supporting efficient pharmacy operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service.
We are looking for a qualified, organized, and patient-focused leader who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and build strong relationships with patients, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy and ensure efficient workflow.
- Provide professional pharmacy services and ensure safe and accurate medication dispensing.
- Review prescriptions and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and other medication-related concerns.
- Counsel patients on medications, including proper use, dosage, side effects, interactions, and adherence.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy legislation, regulatory standards, and skilled practice requirements.
- Maintain high standards of medication safety, quality assurance, and patient confidentiality.
- Supervise, support, train, and mentor pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, assistants, and other pharmacy staff.
- Prepare and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate pharmacy coverage.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and monitor staff performance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of pharmacy team members.
- Oversee inventory management, purchasing, medication ordering, stock levels, and medication storage.
- Monitor and manage expired, recalled, damaged, or discontinued medications.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for controlled substances and other regulated medications.
- Monitor prescription processing, billing, third-party claims, and related administrative processes.
- Address patient concerns and resolve service issues professionally and promptly.
- Monitor pharmacy performance and identify opportunities to improve workflow, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
- Support financial and business objectives, including cost control, inventory management, and pharmacy growth.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, documentation, and reports.
- Participate in audits, inspections, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a professional, respectful, collaborative, and patient-centred work environment.
- Stay current with changes in pharmacy practice, legislation, medications, and healthcare standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPharm), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or equivalent recognized pharmacy degree.
- Current registration and good standing as a pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Eligible to practise as a pharmacist in British Columbia.
- Previous experience working in a community pharmacy.
- Previous pharmacy management or leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medication management, patient safety, and pharmacy operations.
- Experience supervising, training, and mentoring pharmacy staff.
- Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software and electronic health record systems.

Pay: $140,000.00-$170,000.00 per year
