The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Plumber / Gasfitter / Oil Burner Mechanic to join the Infrastructure team in Fort Simpson.

You'll help keep GNWT facilities safe and operational by maintaining and repairing plumbing, heating, fuel oil, water, sewage, and related mechanical systems.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you'll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations in GNWT-owned and operated buildings throughout the Deh Cho. The work ranges from boilers, furnaces, HVAC controls, and plumbing systems to community water and sewage infrastructure, with regular travel to communities in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing and heating systems and equipment
- Service and repair boilers, furnaces, fuel oil systems, HVAC equipment, and controls
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures, water systems, sewage systems, pumps, and hot water equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify deficiencies before they become larger problems
- Inspect work completed by contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- Maintain accurate work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records
Qualifications Required Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
- Journeyman Plumber and Class B Gas Fitter certification
- Oil Burner Mechanic certification
- Three (3) years of related experience
- Applicants must be able to register with the GNWT Boiler Inspector for the gas portion of the certification and hold a valid Class 5 NWT Driver's Licence. A Class 4 Operator's Certificate would be considered an asset.
