Position: Activity Worker (Part-Time)

Position Type: Part-Time, Contract ending November 2026.
Hours of Work: 28 hours per week (on-site)
Compensation: $19.96-$25.90 hourly
Reports to: Living Well Manager

Position Summary

This is a replacement position. Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of daily program activities that support established short‑ and long‑term rehabilitative and recreational goals. Activities are tailored to clients’ levels of functioning and promote independence and safety.

Responsibilities





- Designs, plans, and implements appropriate activities for clients based on their physical, mental, and cognitive needs, in accordance with the service plan.
- Completes the physical setup of program activities and conducts daily transportation schedule checks, as well as safety checks of the program space.
- Provides personal care to clients and responds to client emergencies as needed.
- Uses proper client handling techniques to ensure the safety of both clients and staff at all times.
- Adapts or modifies activities to support clients’ changing needs and to enhance health and safety standards.
- Assists the Team Leader with daily documentation, including daily logs, safety checks, client attendance, dietary records, monthly billing, maintenance work orders, monthly program plans, infection tracking, and other statistical records in AlayaCare.
- Documents clients’ health status, functional abilities, and behaviours in the health record system.
- Complies with the organization’s policies, including Client Safety, Risk Management, Health and Safety, and Person‑Centred Philosophy.




- Identifies and reports safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor immediately and completes incident reports in accordance with policy.
- Identifies and recommends improvements to processes and practices that enhance client safety standards and procedures.
- Ensures service plans are effectively implemented by the team.
- Assists the Team Leader in supervising students and volunteers.

Qualifications

- Certificate or Diploma in Activation, Social Service, Gerontology or related field.
- Valid CPR and First Aid.
- Vulnerable Sector screening required.
- Experience working with frail or cognitively impaired seniors.
- Good verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to write clear and concise client notes.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and the knowledge and sensitivity to work in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to physically provide program services and activities, client personal care and ambulation.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking, with frequent bending and twisting.
- Guiding and transferring of clients within program room or washroom.
- Pushing and maneuvering mobility devices.
- Moving and adjusting tables, chairs, and other equipment.
- Exposure to clients who may be agitated or experiencing confusion.
- May be exposed to contagious diseases.
