Role Title: Power BI Lead

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid: 2-3 days on-site/week)

Duration: 6 - 12 Months of contract with possible extension

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced BI Technical Lead with strong expertise in Tableau and Power BI to lead the migration of enterprise dashboards and reports from Tableau to Power BI. The role requires hands‑on technical leadership, stakeholder coordination, and the ability to guide a team through end‑to‑end BI modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the migration of Tableau reports, dashboards, and data sources to Power BI.
- Assess existing Tableau assets and define migration strategy, standards, and best practices.
- Design and develop Power BI data models, DAX measures, and reports aligned with business requirements.
- Translate Tableau calculations, LOD expressions, and visualizations into Power BI equivalents.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Guide and mentor BI developers, conducting code reviews and ensuring quality delivery.
- Optimize Power BI reports for performance, scalability, and usability.
- Manage deployments across environments (Dev / QA / Prod).
- Collaborate with data engineering teams on data sourcing,



transformations, and refresh strategies.
- Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer post‑migration.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Analytics.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Tableau (dashboard design, calculated fields, LODs).
- Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI, including:
- Power BI Desktop & Service
- DAX
- Power Query (M language)
- Data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)
- Proven experience leading or contributing to Tableau‑to‑Power BI migration projects.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with data sources such as SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or similar.
- Solid understanding of BI performance tuning and best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead teams in quick‑paced environments.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Azure data services (ADF, Azure SQL, Synapse).
- Power BI administration and governance experience.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery models.
- Financial services or regulated industry experience.
