Job Title: Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer
Location: Windsor, ON
Travel: Approximately 1–2 times per year to high-altitude testing locations, mainly Colorado (US), typically for one week per trip.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer to support engine diagnostic calibration and verification activities at our Windsor, Ontario facility. This is a highly hands-on engineering role, focused on testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, calibration, and diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will have experience with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), gasoline propulsion systems, and calibration tools such as INCA, MATLAB, and Simulink/Stateflow. Candidates with practical, hands-on testing experience are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform OBD diagnostic calibration and verification testing for gasoline powertrain systems.
- Develop and implement calibration solutions to support applicable CARB/OBD regulatory requirements.
- Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and validation of engine systems.
- Use instrumentation and data acquisition systems for data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting.
- Calibrate diagnostic thresholds and evaluate system performance.
- Analyze test data and identify potential issues or areas requiring calibration changes.
- Support system hardware and diagnostic requirements to ensure robust OBD functionality.
- Prepare technical reports, test summaries, and status updates.
- Work closely with engineering and calibration teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in vehicle/system validation activities, including travel to high-altitude locations, primarily Colorado, approximately once or twice per year for about one week at a time.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Up to 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in automotive powertrain, calibration, diagnostics, or testing.
- Hands-on experience with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD).
- Experience with INCA, MATLAB, and Simulink/Stateflow.
- Basic understanding of gasoline propulsion systems and internal combustion engine operation.
- Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, calibration, and diagnostics.
- Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel for vehicle/system validation testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier experience.
- Practical vehicle or engine testing experience.
- Experience with OBD calibration and diagnostic verification.
- Familiarity with CARB emissions/OBD regulations.
- Candidates with previous hands-on calibration/testing experience are preferred.
