Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant to support our teaching team and children. Must be willing to get first aid certification, and police security clearance (including vulnerable sector search). Job runs from Sept - May with contract renewed annually. Paid time off over Christmas and Spring break. Wage $16-$18 per hour plus wage top up (depending on ECE level)

Duties

- Assist Teacher to plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
- Ensure the facility is clean, well maintained and safe at all times
- Prepare classroom materials and activities
- Ensure children are supervised at all times
- Develop a positive relationship with each child
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
- Establish routines and provide positive guidance
- Provide a safe and secure setting for children




- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
- Observe children and make note of progress
- Assist children with going to the bathroom
- Maintain current, accurate and confidential client files
- Assist in following and implementing daily activity plans
- Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment
- Participate in monthly executive meetings, fundraising, etc
- Must be dedicated and have exemplary attendance

Skills

- Must hold a valid (within the last 3 months) police security clearance including vulnerable sector search
- Must hold valid first aid certification
- Level 1, 2 or 3 ECE required
