Apogee Ceramics Inc. is a growing Canadian manufacturing company located in Brant County, Ontario. We manufacture engineered ceramic components used in a variety of industries, including clean-tech gas heating appliances and innovative products that support the health of our oceans.

We are looking for a dependable, motivated Press Operator / Mixer to join our night shift production team.

This is a excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, operating machinery, learning new skills and being part of a team. Previous ceramic manufacturing experience is not required—we are willing to train the right candidate.

A Schedule That Gives You Your Weekends Back You'll work Sunday through Thursday nights, giving you every Friday and Saturday off.

About the Role The Press Operator / Mixer is an important member of our Production Team and plays a key role in preparing raw materials and manufacturing high-quality ceramic components.

This is a hands-on, physically active position involving industrial mixers, hydraulic presses and other production equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for following established processes, maintaining quality standards, operating equipment safely and ensuring production runs consistently.

You will receive training on our equipment and processes. The ability to learn quickly, follow instructions and work independently is essential.

What You'll Do Mixing & Material Preparation

- Operate R7, R9 and R18 mixers as required




- Accurately weigh and prepare raw materials according to established formulas
- Load materials into mixers by hand
- Use PLC controls to manage water and oil additions
- Monitor mixing processes and identify potential issues
- Maintain accurate production and process records

Press Operation

- Operate automatic and manual hydraulic presses
- Load and unload press equipment
- Monitor equipment during production
- Make basic adjustments as required
- Identify and report equipment or production issues
- Follow established operating procedures

Quality & Production

- Perform routine quality checks throughout production
- Use calipers, micrometers and other basic measuring equipment
- Verify parts meet established specifications
- Accurately record measurements and production information
- Identify and communicate quality concerns
- Maintain consistent product quality and production output

Material Handling & General Production

- Safely move materials throughout the facility using a forklift
- Load and unload trucks when required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Perform other production duties as required

Manufacturing, machine operation or press operation experience is an asset, but not required.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active manufacturing position. Candidates must be able to:

- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs independently
- Repeatedly handle materials weighing approximately 30 lbs
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
- Safely operate industrial equipment while wearing required PPE

Respirator Requirement: Employees working in certain areas are required to wear a respirator. Employees must be clean-shaven where required to ensure a proper respirator seal.

Experience

Preferred

- 1 year of manufacturing experience
- 1 year of press or machine operation experience
- Forklift experience
- Experience using calipers and micrometers

Experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Employment Opportunity

This position begins as a 3-month renewable contract, with the opportunity to transition to permanent employment.

Permanent employment may be offered before the end of the initial 3-month contract based on performance, attendance, skills, reliability and business needs.
