We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst with strong insurance and actuarial domain knowledge to support data analysis, reporting, governance, and business intelligence initiatives. The role will involve working closely with business stakeholders, actuarial teams, underwriting and broking functions, data engineers, and reporting teams to understand business requirements, analyse source systems, define data mappings, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for reporting and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in actuarial or insurance environments, strong SQL capabilities , and a proven ability to translate complex business requirements and rules into explicit, documented data solutions. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst with deep insurance and actuarial domain expertise to drive complex data analysis, reporting, and governance initiatives across underwriting, broking, and actuarial functions. The ideal candidate will bridge business and technology teams by translating complex insurance data requirements into actionable insights, robust data mappings, and governed reporting solutions. This role requires strong SQL and analytical skills to investigate data, improve data quality, and ensure accurate, trusted information for business decision-making. Success will depend on the ability to navigate large, complex datasets while collaborating effectively with actuaries, underwriters, and business stakeholders. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is $145k - $150k/year &

Data Analysis and Technical Skills Robust experience as a Senior Data Analyst , Business Data Analyst, or similar role in an insurance, actuarial, financial services, or data-intensive environment. Aggregations and reconciliations Data profiling and validation Proven experience conducting detailed source data analysis across multiple systems.
Experience documenting business rules, transformation logic, calculations, assumptions, and data definitions. Hands-on experience with data reconciliation, data quality analysis, and issue investigation.
Understanding of data warehouses, data lakes, reporting layers, ETL/ELT processes, and analytical data models.
Familiarity with Databricks and the Azure data ecosystem . Ability to interpret technical data structures and explain them in business terms. Deep knowledge of the insurance domain , with hands-on experience in actuarial, underwriting, broking, or insurance data environments.
Loss ratios and profitability analysis Exposure and premium analysis Forecasting and portfolio performance Strong understanding of underwriting and broker data , including policy, submission, quote, bound, premium, commission, exposure, risk, and claims information.
Experience interpreting insurance and actuarial metrics, business rules, and reporting requirements. Ability to work effectively with actuaries, underwriters, brokers, finance teams, and business leadership. Understanding of insurance reporting cycles, data dependencies, and key operational and regulatory considerations.
Data Governance and Reporting Experience working with data governance frameworks, standards, and controls. Knowledge of data ownership, stewardship, lineage, metadata, data dictionaries, and critical data elements.
Experience defining and validating data quality rules and reconciliation controls. Ability to ensure that reporting outputs are complete, accurate, traceable, and aligned with approved business rules.
Experience supporting reporting requirements, dashboard development, management information, or regulatory reporting. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field. ~12+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or similar role in insurance, actuarial, financial services, or data-intensive environments. ~ Strong hands-on expertise in SQL, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, reconciliation, data profiling, and query optimization. ~ Proven experience performing source system analysis, data mapping, data validation, and business rule documentation. ~ Strong understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts, including pricing, reserving, claims, premiums, exposures, profitability, and portfolio performance. ~ Experience working with underwriting, broker, policy, claims, premium, commission, and risk-related datasets. ~ Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, reporting layers, analytical data models, and data governance frameworks. ~ Experience working with large and complex datasets and supporting reporting, analytics,
or regulatory reporting initiatives. ~ Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with actuarial, underwriting, finance, reporting, and technology teams. ~ Familiarity with Databricks and the Azure data ecosystem. Exposure to insurance broker-dealer, underwriting, or actuarial data platforms.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence and visualization tools. Understanding of data lineage, metadata management, master data management, and data cataloging solutions. Exposure to cloud-based data platforms, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, and Databricks.
Experience supporting data governance, data quality, and regulatory reporting initiatives. Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and Jira-based project environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business audiences.
Banking or broader financial services experience is considered an asset.
