Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Production Supervisor, Millwork, is responsible for leading the daily manufacturing processes to maximize the production of doors ensuring the timely fill rate for customers. Implementing the production schedule, the Production Supervisor, Millwork, is a safety conscious leader accountable for achieving productivity KPIs (key performance indicators) through successfully supervising and coordinating departmental team members with high regard for quality standards and material efficiency.
:
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities of workers who assemble, fabricate, and inspect products.
- Implement production schedule using information provided by Mill Manager and establish methods to meet work schedules.
- Resolve work and production problems within the boundaries of the position; escalating to Mill Manager as appropriate.
- Identify and provide recommendations to improve productivity and product quality.
- Requisition materials and coordinate receiving of materials for business unit.
- Prepare production progress reports for submission to Mill Manager
- Performs ad-hoc projects as directed by the Mill Manager.
Supervision:
- Provides support to the Mill Manager.
- Train workers in job duties, processes, and policies.
- Assist Mill Manager in coaching and developing departmental staff.
- Complies and enforces all Company policies and procedures.
- Manage efficient use of company materials.
- Accountable for efficient quality control/cost management.
- Accountable for performance management of subordinates including, but not limited to, performance standards, participating in annual performance reviews, and mill operation targets established by management.
- Recommend personnel for promotions and participates in the hiring process as necessary.
- Chair and participate in necessary department meetings including, but not limited to, 1:1 meetings.
- Participates in ongoing training and leadership development initiatives and programs.
Fiscal Responsibility: · Identifies and recommends cost controls for operating and departmental expenditures in compliance with Riverside’s policies and procedures.
Health and Safety:
· Ensures that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
· Maintains a clean and tidy production work environment.
· Assists in training departmental employees on safety processes and procedures relating to mill operations.
· With the Mill Manager, work with Human Resources near-miss / accident reporting and supports Riverside’s early and safe return to work program.
· Actively participates in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Production floor
CNC, Forklift, Pallet Truck, Pump Jack, Calculator, Hand tools.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
· Completion of post-secondary school.
· Post-secondary diploma in Carpentry.
· Health & Safety Courses/Training: WHMIS, Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT), Basic Supervisory Training.
·
· 5+ years’ production experience in millwork, door, cabinetry assembly, inspection, or labour.
· 2+ years’ production experience in a lead capacity.
· Previous managerial experience with personnel responsibilities is an asset.
· Previous industry related experience in construction, carpentry, trim, manufacturing considered an asset.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and/or models.
- Knowledge of secure work practices including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
