Job Description
The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician safely repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls and maintains mobile heavy‑duty equipment throughout the mine and milling operation. The technician works collaboratively with the planning and team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure it meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Operate equipment safely.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety standards.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Seek to improve personal skills as a heavy duty equipment technician.
- Identify inefficiencies or problems and share them with others.
- Collaboratively troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk across five dimensions: throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost.
- Provide accurate and consistent technical reporting.
- Act as a stakeholder of the Cote Gold golden rules.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Maintain accurate equipment and shift logs.
- Communicate deficiencies to appropriate team members for follow‑up.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver on commitment to the team, communities, environment, and shareholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- College diploma in heavy equipment technician or another related field.
- Certificate of Qualification in Ontario preferred.
- Completed apprenticeship required.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Previous experience in open pit mining considered an asset.
- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license required.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of SIS, ET, HIS for CAT equipment an asset.
- Experience with MineStar an asset.
