:

As a member of an inter-disciplinary team and part of our dynamic Mental Health Service, you will be responsible for implementing and participating in social recreational/educational programs that meet the needs of the people that choose to spend their days with us.

Your role will further assist members to cultivate independence, competence, self-confidence, and self-esteem by serving as a role model, companion, educator, and advocate to the member of the Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent.

Your role is also to encourage people with a mental illness to take an active role in their personal wellness.

Duties include but not limited to:

- Responsible for providing one-on-one assistance to individuals with varying mental heath needs to enable full involvement in our activities and leisure programs
- To empower and promote people to take control of their lives
- To help and assist Program Facilitators with daily programs
- Morning set-up and End of day routines
- Will be responsible for program activities that he/she/they must develop and implement
- Act quickly and responsibly should a crisis occur
- Responsible for executing youth group every Tuesday for 1hr

Skills and Qualifications: · Degree or Diploma in similar field of work

· Good interpersonal skills

· Have the capacity and understanding to deal with difficult situations/crisis situations

· Ability to listen, empathize,



and accept others

· Openness to receiving feedback and supervision as needed

· A knowledge of chronic mental illnesses is an asset

· Effective problem-solving skills

-Ability to understand the importance of fun

-Use of a personal vehicle to transport people to various activities, a clean driving record

· Strong verbal communication skills/strong problem-solving skills

· Excellent time management, organization, and flexibility

· Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint

· Demonstrates good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard

· Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

· Knowledge of the arts and the LGBTQ2SIA+ community

-Innovative thinking and willingness to adapt to change

Compensation and Requirements

· This position is part-time and hours of work will be: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9am-2pm, and Tuesdays from 2-3pm. This position entails a 16 hour work week

· Business Casual attire, with casual 'dress-down' days on Fridays and/or trips with members

· Vehicle with clean driving record

Supervision:

· The Program Assistant will report directly to Allie Matthews, Operations Manager

Pay: $20.00 per hour
