Operating out of six locations, Unison offers core services that include primary health care, counselling, health promotion, Early Years programs, legal services, harm reduction programs, housing assistance, adult protective services, Pathways to Education™ and a Diabetes Education Program. The Program Coordinatorensures the effective development and delivery of the Pathways to Education program to all participants. In addition, the Program Coordinator is responsible for carrying a caseload of students, overseeing the work of the Youth Development Workers, Program Facilitators, and Student Interns in program delivery. The Program Coordinatorreports to the Director, Pathways to Education and Anti-violence Program.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

· Oversee the quality of the Youth Development Workers’ and Program Faciliators’ professional practice including their case management and documentation, critical incident reporting, and adherence to agency and program-specific policies and procedures

· Review student progress and critical cases on an ongoing basis, providing coaching to Youth Development Workers and Program Facilitators

· Will also be responsible for managing a caseload of their own students

· Organize annual Youth Development Worker and Program Facilitators workflow and scheduling (e.g., caseload distribution, programming nights, school visits, propramming sessions, etc.)

· Recruit, and oversee the professional supervision of student interns (e.g., Bachelor of Social Work,



Social Service Worker, etc.) who serve as Youth Development Workers and Program Facilitators during their placement term

· Participate in team and organization-wide meetings and committees, initiatives and events

· Develop work goals in conjunction with Program Director, identifying action plans, learning objectives and professional development needs

· Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization

· Oversee the volunteer recruitment process and committee

· Orient, supervise and support students and/or volunteers as required

· Work with Program Director, and Program Facilitators to ensure that the program and programming location(s) is adequately resourced to maintain programming standards and support students’ needs

· Identify, report and debrief on client safety incidents, valuable catches, occupational health and safety incidents and near misses

· Other duties as required.

- Establish and maintain positive, effective and supportive relationships with various community partners through regular contact and communication
- Maintain ongoing engagement with TDSB and TCDSB, and associated schools; and community partners including but not limited to City of Toronto and local funding organizations
- Support the Youth Development Workers and Program Facilitators in their outreach to potential and established community partners, and manage ongoing partner relationships (e.g., agencies related to youth programs for referral, organizations providing students with part-time employment and community service opportunities, etc.)
- Work with other program staff to plan and execute special enrichment opportunities in the community that enhance the student’s experience in the program

Qualifications:

- Relevant diploma, degree,



certificate or professional training in area related to youth, including but not limited to social work, community development, social services, education, or recreation
- 1+ years of coordinator/supervisory experience, including both staff and volunteer management, team building, coaching, and staff development
- 5+ years’ experience in community development, youth programming, research and evaluation, education, or social work either singularly or in combination
- Knowledge of approaches to providing support to youth with special needs, youth at risk, and youth from low-income and/or culturally diverse communities
- Detailed knowledge of the secondary school system and curriculum as well as an understanding of the strengths, capacities, barriers, and challenges faced by students in the program
- Knowledge of community and social service resources, particular services for youth which can support their individual emotional and social development
- Experience serving one or more of (people with mental health and addictions, LGBTQ2IA+, and youth facing barriers)
- An understanding of the Pathways to Education vision and approach
- Other languages an asset, specifically languages of the community
