Job Overview

Waypoints provides group care and support services for young people and families. We are currently hiring for the positions of:

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Internal/External Posting

2 positions

These are permanent positions.

The program coordinator reports to the Director of Group Care and Support Services and Executive Director and is responsible for the overall operation and management of the programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leads the development of the therapeutic programs and intervention plans;

Supervision of employees;

Liaises with the Department of Social Supports and Well Being and other community agencies;

Manages the overall budget of the program as well as property management;

Develops and implements strategic planning activities for the organization;

Carries out all duties in adherence to the principles of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, utilizing a child-centered and family-focused approach.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, preferably in the area of child and youth care.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of child and youth care.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of issues related to child maltreatment, family systems,



patterns of harmful behavior, and the long- and short-term impacts of trauma on human development.

Demonstrated understanding of professional child and youth care practice.

In-depth knowledge of child adolescent development, trauma and family dynamics.

Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and analytical skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

A strong attendance record.

Ability to adapt to various social and interpersonal situations and develop creative and versatile responses.

Ability to evaluate self.

Must be willing to become certified as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner.

These skills would normally be obtained through extensive front-line and supervisory experience. Use of a private vehicle, a valid Criminal Records screening certificate, a child protection records check, and a valid First Aid/CPR certificate are also conditions of employment.

Pay: $78,305.00 per year
