Mountain Plains Community Services Society of the North (MPCSSN) is a non-profit, charitable society governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our Society has operated numerous diverse community and family-focused programs that are designed to address the unique needs of the Northwest region of Alberta since 1972. Currently, we offer services in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Human Services.

Mountain Plains CSSN is accredited by CARF International and is a member of the ALIGN Association of Community Services as well as the Children’s Welfare League of Canada.

Role The Program Manager will work in alignment with the Agency’s Culture Code to provide Leadership to their team of Direct Support Professionals. The Program Manager will provide each team member with individualized investment opportunities to promote professional growth and capacity building. The Program Manager is responsible for program operations and service delivery and is accountable for meeting contracted program outcomes.

The Program Manager will work in collaboration with Agency members, community partners, and funding bodies to develop and implement high quality services in support of vulnerable individuals in the Grande Prairie and surrounding area. The Program Manager will report to the Executive Leadership Team and will demonstrate a commitment to continuous growth as well as ownership over their actions and decision-making.

Leadership Responsibilities

- To work in alignment with the Agency’s Vision, Ethical Code of Conduct, and Agency policies
- To provide Direct Support Professionals with regular supervisions utilizing Situational Leadership to encourage skilled growth and capacity building
- To effectively collaborate with fellow Agency members, community partners and funders; to ensure that decision-making is reflective of both Agency and community expertise
- To foster a working environment that promotes Psychological Safety, teamwork,



effective communication, and pride in service provision
- To demonstrate the ability to adjust following periods of tension; to engage in regular self-reflection and access and/or communicate professional support needs through appropriate channels
- To complete regular assessments on team performance and engagement; develop and execute action plans to celebrate wins and address concerns
- To provide 24/7 on-call support to program employees; to utilize on-call inquiries as opportunities for capacity building, consultation, and to provide immediate on-site support where necessary
- To participate in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, performance management, and termination
- To anticipate the changing needs of the program and to manage priorities accordingly

Service Delivery Responsibilities
- To develop and maintain high quality services in alignment with evidence-based frameworks, including Trauma-Informed Care, Person-Centered Approaches, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Attachment Theory
- To coordinate and implement holistic services that meet the emotional, physical, spiritual, mental and social needs of persons-served
- To collaborate with funders and all other professional support teams to promote coordinated support plans and associated case trajectories
- To ensure Direct Support Professionals are trained and knowledgeable on the implementation of therapeutic intervention strategies
- To consistently monitor the effectiveness of intervention strategies utilized and adjust support plans in accordance with the changing needs of persons-served




- To maintain current knowledge of industry-accepted practices and evidence-based frameworks; attend all delegated training and professional development opportunities

Operational Responsibilities
- To maintain hiring requirements in alignment with licensing standards; to coordinate mandatory training for Direct Support Professionals as needed
- To uphold program standards in alignment with accreditation standards, Agency policy, and the program’s contracted mandates
- To manage fiscal operations of the program, including the disbursement, recording, and accounting of funds for daily operations of the program
- To complete staff scheduling, accounting for the operational needs of the program, fiscal management of staffing dollars, and within the legal parameters of hours of work, overtime, and statutory holiday legislation; to assume frontline responsibilities where required
- To complete all required documentation to a high standard; this may include legal documentation, staff development notes, and service delivery reporting processes
- To ensure program practices follow all Health & Safety requirements; to coordinate facility maintenance as needed

Hiring requirements:
- Degree or 2 Year Diploma in Child and Youth Care, or related human services field.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- Driver’s Abstract
- Clear Criminal Records Check
- Clear Children’s Service Intervention Record Check.
- Vehicle Insurance stating $2 million liability and access to a vehicle
